How to check and force SSL in cPanel SSL/TLS Status

Category: cPanel

SSL/TLS Status helps you check whether your domains have a valid certificate and run AutoSSL to issue them when missing. Use it when a site does not load over HTTPS or when you recently added a domain/subdomain. Issuance may take a few minutes to be reflected in the list.

At the top of cPanel, use the Search Tools (/) field and type ssl. In the results that appear below, click the SSL/TLS Status tool (the name may vary slightly depending on language/version). Once opened, you will see the list of domains and their AutoSSL status.

Check the status of each domain in the list

Inside SSL/TLS Status, review the domain table. Identify whether your domain shows the text AutoSSL Domain Validated and a green padlock; if you see a different status, that domain does not have a certificate yet. Here you can also use View Certificate to open the details of the installed certificate.

Run AutoSSL to force issuance

To force validation, click the Run AutoSSL button. cPanel will start the process and, when finished, the page may refresh showing the new status of each domain.

Confirm that the domain is now validated

After running AutoSSL, look up your domain in the list again and confirm that it now shows AutoSSL Domain Validated with the green padlock. If you need to check details, open View Certificate from the same row.

Final verification

  • The domain shows the text AutoSSL Domain Validated.
  • The green padlock icon is shown next to the domain.
  • The View Certificate link opens the certificate details without errors.

Common errors

  • The SSL/TLS Status tool does not appear in the search → the search term is too general or in another language → search for ssl or tls and pick the matching option.
  • After running AutoSSL the domain still has no green padlock → the process has not finished yet or there is pending validation → wait a few minutes and refresh the page.
  • Opening View Certificate shows a blank page → the browser has cache or blocks the window → clear cache and allow pop-ups for cPanel.
