How to install WordPress using Softaculous

If you want to get away with WordPress working the first time, this is the short and safe flow.

What you are going to achieve

Install WordPress on your domain from Softaculous in cPanel, validating access and basic security before publishing.

Before you start

  • Active hosting with access to cPanel.
  • Domain pointing to the correct server.
  • Administration email available.
  • Strong password ready (ideally generated by manager).

Fast route

  1. Log in to cPanel via HTTPS.
  2. Open Softaculous Apps Installer.
  3. Choose WordPress and press Install.
  4. Configure a secure user and correct domain.
  5. Install and validate /wp-admin.

Verified steps (no padding)

Step 1: Open Softaculous

In cPanel, use the search engine and go to Softaculous Apps Installer.

What to check here: You are on the applications screen and WordPress appears as an available option.

Step 2: Start the installation

Select WordPress and click Install.

Step 3: define domain and route

Choose the correct domain and leave the path empty if you want WordPress to be at the root of the site.

What to check here: The final URL field matches where you want to post.

Step 4: Set up secure admin access

  • Do not use admin as user.
  • Use a strong and unique password.
  • Defines real administration email.

What to verify here: You have a valid username/email and password saved in a safe place.

Step 5: Install and test

Press Install and wait for confirmation. Then open:

  • your public site
  • https://tu-dominio/wp-admin

What to check here: They both load, and you can log in to the WordPress dashboard.

Final verification

  • The site opens at the expected URL.
  • /wp-admin allows login.
  • Username and password were protected.
  • There is no 500/403 error after installing.

Common mistakes (and quick way out)

  • You installed in the wrong folder: check the path field and reinstall to the correct destination.
  • You used user admin: change it immediately or create a new admin and delete the old one.
  • WordPress does not open after installing: validates DNS, SSL and basic file permissions.
