How to set up email forwarders in cPanel

Category: cPanel

If you need messages from one mailbox to arrive in another address too, you can do it in minutes with Forwarders in cPanel.

Before you start

  • Confirm the source mailbox already exists (for example, sales@yourdomain.com).
  • Have the full destination email address ready.
  • Sign in to cPanel with the correct account user.

Steps

  1. Sign in to cPanel and open Forwarders in the email section.
  2. Click Add Forwarder.
  3. In Address to Forward, enter the source mailbox and verify the domain.
  4. In Destination, keep Forward to Email Address, enter the destination address, and save.

Final verification

  • The forwarder appears in the Forwarders list.
  • A test email sent to the source mailbox arrives in the destination mailbox.
  • The source mailbox still receives messages as expected.

Common errors

  • Forwarded messages do not arrive → the destination address was typed incorrectly → edit the forwarder and fix the address.
  • The forwarder was created under another domain → the wrong domain was selected while saving → delete it and create it under the correct domain.
  • The test message is not in the main inbox → the destination provider filtered it → check spam and automatic rules.
