How to configure Thunderbird?
Aim
Connect your domain email account to Thunderbird securely.
Data you need
- Complete email (example:
ventas@tudominio.com) - Account password
- Recommended server:
mail.tudominio.com
Recommended settings (IMAP)
- Incoming (IMAP):
- Host:
mail.tudominio.com - Port: 993
- Security: SSL/TLS
- User: full email
- Host:
- Outgoing (SMTP):
- Host:
mail.tudominio.com - Port: 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS)
- Authentication: Yes
- User: full email
- Host:
Steps in Thunderbird
- Open Thunderbird.
- Go to New Account > Existing Email.
- Capture name, email and password.
- Click Configure manually if it does not detect the parameters correctly.
- Enter the IMAP/SMTP data above.
- Save and test sending/receiving.
Common problems
- Does not send emails: checks SMTP port and authentication.
- Does not receive emails: confirms that the user is the complete email.
- Certificate Error: Validates that the host is correct and that SSL/TLS is enabled.
