How to configure Thunderbird?

Aim

Connect your domain email account to Thunderbird securely.

Data you need

  • Complete email (example: ventas@tudominio.com)
  • Account password
  • Recommended server: mail.tudominio.com
  • Incoming (IMAP):
    • Host: mail.tudominio.com
    • Port: 993
    • Security: SSL/TLS
    • User: full email
  • Outgoing (SMTP):
    • Host: mail.tudominio.com
    • Port: 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS)
    • Authentication: Yes
    • User: full email

Steps in Thunderbird

  1. Open Thunderbird.
  2. Go to New Account > Existing Email.
  3. Capture name, email and password.
  4. Click Configure manually if it does not detect the parameters correctly.
  5. Enter the IMAP/SMTP data above.
  6. Save and test sending/receiving.

Common problems

  • Does not send emails: checks SMTP port and authentication.
  • Does not receive emails: confirms that the user is the complete email.
  • Certificate Error: Validates that the host is correct and that SSL/TLS is enabled.
