What happens if I don't renew my domain on time and let it expire?

Category: Web domains

Web domain expiration

When a domain expires, it can generally take a few days and the domain can be renewed without problem and at the original price. However, depending on the TLD extension of the domain, in most cases there is a reactivation fee after certain days and in some cases a much higher fee after 30 days of expiration.

For “.MX” domains

When the intention to pay for a Mexican domain name is not received, it enters a state of initial suspension. During the first 15 days you can still renew the domain, but an additional charge must be covered, calculated according to Akky México Registrar’s Domain Name Policies.

Important: When 30 days pass after the expiration day without the corresponding payment being received, the domain name will go into Final Suspension status. In this case, it will be necessary to cover an even larger extra reactivation fee, which amounts to 40USD.

Finally, the domain enters a period of elimination, where it is not possible to renew the domain and you must wait for it to appear on the public registry again.

For “.COM”, “ORG”, “NET” domains.

For these domains the initial suspension period is 12 days. After that date, a reactivation fee of $250 USD is applied in addition to the renewal fee. If you wait 30 days, you risk losing the domain completely and having it registered by someone else.
