Category: WordPress

If you forgot the password to enter your WordPress administration panel, you have several methods to recover it.

Method 1 — Recover it by mail

  1. Enter the administration login and click on Forgot your password?:
  2. You will receive an email to the administrator address with instructions for assigning a new password.

Method 2 — Recover it via FTP

  1. Connect via FTP to your hosting account.
  2. Download the functions.php file of the active template.
  3. Right after the first line (<?php), add this code:
    wp_set_password( 'nuevacontraseña', 1 );

  4. Upload the modified file back to your account.
  5. Enter the administration panel with the password nuevacontraseña.
  6. Once inside, edit functions.php again and delete the code you added. If you leave it, your password will reset every time you load the site.

Method 3 — Change it from phpMyAdmin

  1. Log in to your cPanel and open phpMyAdmin.
  2. Select your WordPress database:
  3. Open the user table (wp_users):
  4. Click Edit for the admin user (usually #1):
